Artist Statement

I am beguiled by beauty, be it a burst of magnolia blooms or an unpretentious building materials yard. 

l see beauty everywhere and so many subjects call to me that I’m never at a loss to find a new subject—be it a portrait, a botanical, a tranquil  landscape or the incredible variety of waves and foamy backwash  brought onto beaches by the sea.  

For years I have developed an ability to realistically capture the special aspect of anything that delights me and for this I am most grateful. 

Lately, though, I have been exploring non-objective art and am a beginner all over again…a place I love to be as there is a whole new world of expression out there with which I am completely unfamiliar and which presents a new kind of beauty to my eyes and heart.  

Perhaps I’ll develop as much skill in this direction as I’ve mastered in realism…but who knows?  It’s a journey after all.… full of surprises, hopes, obstacles and dreams…. 

 I’m ready to keep moving.  At the same time I’ll be continuing to love and paint reality in all its infinite variety and beauty.
